A long overdue update

August 14th, 2009

Solo show at Tahoma Center Gallery … sold 28 of the 44 framed images.Dandelion Dreams 2 images were accepted into the 2009 Edmonds Art Festival. 2 other images were in the 2009 Shoreline Arts Festival. I did the cover photography for Leanne Trevalyn’s Dandelion CD. In the past 5 months I have had images published in 4 of the 5 City Arts Tacoma magazines. I have had 2 images published in the Wenatche World newspaper. I have sold a few framed images thanks to Kimball Gallery in Gig Harbor. I have 4 images hanging at Rhapsody In Bloom Florists. I took the First Place ribbon at the National Arts Program competition here in Tacoma. I have 2 images hanging in the Tacoma Municiple Building. I will have 8 of the 43 images in the upcoming 7th Annual Tacoma Mountaineers Photography Exhibit. I have submitted 4 images into the competition at the 2009 Puyallup Fair. I have one image hanging in The Gallery at Tacoma Community College. I am submitting 3 images to the 2009 Commencement Bay Maritime Festival. I have submitted 3 images into the fall juried competition of The Peninsula Art League, and I will be submitting 2 images into the juried competition at Franke Tobey Jones, and I think that there are some that I am forgetting… oh yes, I took 3rd place at The Proctor Arts Festival, and I am still forgetting something….

With the occasional rare exception, all of my photographs are taken within a 2 1/2 hour drive of Tacoma. Mind you, a few may be a few hours hike beyond that.

I don’t have Photoshop. I do have Photoshop Elements. I prefer to do do very little image correcting/enhancing, but I am doing more now than I have in the past

All of my images are for sale. Email me for particulars or go to my website and order securely online.

Thanks,
Jim

Framed Focus Follies Invitation

Framed Focus Follies

At The Tahoma Center Gallery

An exhibit of works by Jim Oliver

January 2nd through February 27th, 2009

Reception January 15th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

The exhibit is a 43 piece (plus or minus) slowly rotating (images will be added and others removed)

photography exhibit that can best be described as a mixed bag, a loose collection, and

a scattered spectrum of styles. Images that range from the impressionistic

to film noir to an Ansell Adams influence. Some with that

soft glow to others with a hard crystal clarity, you

feel that you were there when the image

was captured or reminds you of

where you have

been.

The Tahoma Center Gallery is located at 1323 S Yakima St., Tacoma, WA, 98405

on the 2nd floor of Catholic Community Services in the old St Leo’s School.

There has also been one grandson born, one engagement, and our commitment ceremony held at The Wedding Tree with The Tetons in the background.

Long time no blog - an update of sorts

April 24th, 2008

Hello,

The Wine Bank in University Place has once again asked me to hold an Art Exhibit of my works in conjunction with one of their wine tastings.
This has tentatively been set for 12 July 2008. The doors will open around 9 am and will close around 6 pm. The wine
tasting usually doesn’t start until the afternoon. I’ll be in the process of deciding which images to present probably right up to the last minute.
Let me know if you have any favorites you would like included. There will be more details to come.

Also, I’ll be working on a calendar for Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Tacoma. The working title is “The Gardens of Immanuel”.
The title should give you a pretty good idea of the subject matter. All of the photos will be shot in the gardens of the people of Immanuel Presbyterian Church.
This calendar will be in addition to the upcoming 2008 “Washington Waters” Calendar and the upcoming 2008 “A Bees View Calendar”.

I have 3 images currently on display in the Kimball gallery in Gig Harbor. I will be replacing them with three new images each month.

I’m also gearing up for the Annual Tacoma Mountaineers Photo Exhibit at the Tahoma Gallery here in Tacoma, as well as for the Puyallup Fair in September.

I’ve been loading the freshest images onto
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jimoliverphotography/ before moving them over to the official website at
http://joliverphoto.com/ .

I have an account also on YouTube where I’m posting the Blues Vespers videos as well as a few others.
